My first day of school went a little something like this. Welcome back! We have moved your classroom to portables located two blocks off campus on the playground of the elementary school. All of your furniture is "inside" the room. We don't have keys so you will just have to wait on that.
Two hours after the first bell I get into the portable. Lucky for us, the portable was used for daycare so it is pleasently decorated with crayon drawings on the wall. The toilet is literally (really, I actually measured) 14" off the ground. Think knees around your head.
I spend the first day making the students who show up work as unpaid laborers, arranging the furniture.
